Two of the seven seats on the Fayetteville Public Schools school board were up for general election on September 20, 2016. Megan Hurley defeated Maria Baez de Hicks in the race for at-large Position 1. In the by-district race for Zone 1, Nika Waitsman defeated Farla Steele-Treat to win the open seat.[1]
