Federal judge dismisses challenge to death penalty
March 8, 2010
Arkansas: Federal Judge James Leon Holmes of the U.S. East District Court of Arkansas dismissed a lawsuit filed by Marcel Wayne Williams, a convicted killer. Williams filed the suit claiming that some details of the state's Methods of Execution Act of 2009 are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act and, therefore, he could not find out if he was to be subject to cruel and unusual punishment. Holmes threw out the challenge stating that the information Williams was looking for could has been made available to the public and, therefore, the grounds of Willaims's claim are void.[1]
