Washington: US District Judge Lonny Suko has ordered Nelson Faria Dairy in Royal City, Washington to improve its environmental mitigation practices after the industrial farm was found to be contributing to contamination in the area. The finding came after an environmental group called Community Association for Restoration of the Environment (CARE) claimed the farm violated a number of environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act. Judge Suko ordered the dairy to install "wells to monitor groundwater contamination," to track "the application of manure on neighboring fields" and to empty its wastewater lagoons annually.[1]
