An effort to recall Fernando Armenta from his position as an elected county supervisor of Monterey County, California was launched in May 2011.[1] The recall effort was abandoned in August 2011.[2]
Recall supporters
Jose Castaneda, president of the Alisal Unified School District board, was a leader in the recall effort. Castaneda faced two perjury charges and two counts of filing a false document in connection with paperwork filed with county election officials to launch the recall.[3] Castaneda acknowledged that he filed a false affidavit with the Board of Elections.[2]
Elizabeth Miller, a resident of East Salinas, supported the recall. Her support for the recall was related to Armenta's support for state intervention in the Alisal Unified School District.[4]

Recall organizers would have needed to collect 3,741 signatures of registered voters by mid-October 2011 in order to qualify the recall election for the ballot.[4]
