Fernando R. Macias

Fernando R. Macias was the chief judge of the Third Judicial District of New Mexico.[1] Macias was appointed to the bench of this court in September 2006. He serves in the Children's Division.[2] He was retained in 2008 and again in 2014.[3]
Education
Macias received his undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University and his J.D. from Georgetown University.[2]
Career
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Macias worked as the executive director for New Mexico Legal Aid, general manager of the Border Environment Cooperation Commission and as a district public defender for Doña Ana County. He also practiced law privately for 13 years. Macias was elected to the New Mexico State Senate and served as part of its body for 16 years.[2]

Macias was retained to the 3rd District Court with 74.5 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [3]
