Five Omaha lawyers to fill vacancies in Douglas County

Nebraska: On Friday June 24, Governor Dave Heineman appointed five Omaha lawyers to fill vacancies on the Nebraska Court of Appeals and in Douglas County.

Nebraska Court of Appeals

District Court

  • Burns worked with the Douglas County Public Defender’s Office for 26 years.
  • He earned his law degree in 1984 from Creighton Law School.[3]
  • Dougherty practiced with the small Omaha firm of Koukol, Johnson & Dougherty.
  • She earned her law degree in 1987 from Creighton Law School.[3]
They will fill vacancies created by the retirements of Judges Gerald Moran and Patricia Lamberty.[3]

County Court

  • Lohaus practiced as an attorney with Gross & Welch.
  • She is a 1990 graduate of Creighton Law School[3]
  • Keim worked as an assistant Omaha city prosecutor since 2004.
  • She worked as an assistant Douglas County public defender from 1999 to 2004.
  • She is a 1999 graduate of Creighton Law School.[3]
They will fill vacancies created by the retirements of Thomas McQuade and Stephen Swartz.[3]
