Flo Matheson was a 2016 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 6th Congressional District of Tennessee.[1] Matheson was defeated by David Kent in the Democratic primary on August 4, 2016.[2]

Matheson was a 2012 Democratic candidate for District 25 of the Tennessee House of Representatives.

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Republican. Incumbent Diane Black (R) defeated David Kent (D) and David Ross (I) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Black defeated Joe Carr, Tommy Hay, and Donald Strong in the Republican primary, while Kent defeated Flo Matheson to win the Democratic nomination. The primary elections took place on August 4, 2016.[3][2][4]

Matheson ran in the 2012 election for Tennessee House of Representatives, District 25. Matheson ran unopposed in the August 2 primary election and was defeated by incumbent Cameron Sexton (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[5][6]
