Florence Shapiro
Florence Shapiro is a former Republican member of the Texas State Senate representing District 8 from 1991 to 2013.
Shapiro graduated with a B.S. in secondary education from the University of Texas at Austin and is the former owner and president of Shapiro and Company.
In addition to being a senator, Shapiro was a teacher for the Richardson Independent School District. Prior to her position in the state senate, she was also Mayor of Plano, Texas from 1990 to 1992 and was on the Plano City Council from 1979 to 1990.[1]
Shapiro announced on September 19, 2011 that she would not be seeking re-election in 2012.[2]
