Ward Connerly launched a petition drive in support of a 2000 Florida ballot initiative to overturn affirmative action policies in Florida. After the Florida Supreme Court struck down the ballot language for this initiative, efforts to collect signatures in order to qualify it for the ballot ceased. Gov. Jeb Bush then launched an anti-affirmative action plan ("One Florida").[1]
