Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Make Florida affordable again!

Make certain that corporations pay their fair share and not adversely impose the burden on the average citizens

Preserve and protect country's heritage and history to learn from the past and to improve the future

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Brian Moore (G)

Protect our civil liberties and freedoms, both individually and communally. Assure full healthcare for all citizens by expanding Medicaid and creating a state-run health citizens accessible to all.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Brian Moore (G)

Former governor and former U.S. Senator Terry Sanford of North Carolina. He was also the former President of Duke University in North Carolina. He lead a backward state to increase its commitment to the cultural arts and improve education statewide. He was progressive, and was able to improve the lives of many children in a conservative state through his leadership in making huge increases to its educational and cultural arts programs.

President John F. Kennedy was considering adding him to his presidential ticket for the 1964 elections, thereby replacing Lyndon B. Johnson as his VP.

However, Kennedy's assassination changed many peoples' lives.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

Brian Moore (G)

The Mission movie, 1986, with great acting by Jeremy Irons, Robert De Niro and more. Beautiful tropical forest Music and violent instances, dramatic filled scenes, by composer Ennio Morricone. And wisely directed by roland Joffe.

Of great historical importance demonstrating impact of European powers on foreign lands, its indian populations and impact on South Americn land and environment. Plus, it showed the impact the Catholic Church had on foreign indian cultures, and how the Church was pressured by the governments of Portugal and Spain to give in to their monied interests and thirsts for power. The missionary priests stood up for the people at the expense of their lives, but they stood for principle and what was right. They pushed back on the establishment and forced them to change their ways.

The music and art were exquisite and enchanting. That movie said it all or me, and for what I think we should stand for.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Integrity, fair representation, democratic, a listener, thorough in researching an issue, standing up for principle, using the bully pulpit and willing to have the courage to stand alone for principle.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Brian Moore (G)

Honesty, energetic, democratic, thorough researcher, egalitarian, integrity, principled.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Brian Moore (G)

To represent the people in his/her district fairly. To be honest and have an open door policy for all residents in the district. To work hard on behalf of all citizens and not for monied or self-interests.

What legacy would you like to leave?

Brian Moore (G)

Principled and courageous in spite of public pressures.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

Brian Moore (G)

I was five years old, my brother 6 years old and our neighbor was seven years old. We were playing with gasoline and matches n the backyard and we burnt our neighbor's garage down, causing over $10,000 in damage. It was reported in the Oakland Tribune newspapers many years ago.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Brian Moore (G)

Sheet metal worker in Sacramento, California during three summers while in high school. 9 months total. 3 summers.

What is your favorite book? Why?

Brian Moore (G)

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. It carried me to foreign lands, aristocratic society and an unforgettable lovely enchanting dance that sparked a first-ever feeling of adolescent love.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Brian Moore (G)

Injured knee from high school football that has been a daily source of pain, discomfort and limited ability to run in sports.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?

Brian Moore (G)

A respectful distance because of the need for a balance of power between the executive , legislative and judicial branches of state government.

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Brian Moore (G)

Climate change, the transfer from fossil fuels to clean air and water, and clean sources of power.

Plus, we should implement more controlled growth so as to protect the environment and natural resources like our lakes, rivers, springs and coastal oceans.

The role of citizens in the decision-making process also needs to increase in all areas.

Furthermore, we need to make the election process solely public, under the entire auspices of the state government, and remove the role that big corporate and special interest money plays. Public campaigns will enable an equal amount of monies to qualified candidates, public debates, a shorter campaign period, open voting, etc. We also need an independent body to redistrict the districts every ten years.

What are the benefits and drawbacks of a unicameral state legislature, in your opinion?

Brian Moore (G)

No balance of power, nor sufficient representation of the public. Dangers of making legislation that can be too hasty.

More danger for errors.

The benefits are less expensive. Quicker decisions. Less complicated.

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?

Brian Moore (G)

No. We need to have more people from the general public, to be more prespresnetative of their interests. Experienced legislators leads to pork-barreling, favored interests, monied interests, and a motivation to preserve their incumbency at the expense of fairness, accuracy or intergrity.

Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.

Brian Moore (G)

Always. Compromise is needed when representatives of varied interests try to come to some form of decision-making beneficial to the common good.

What process do you favor for redistricting?

Brian Moore (G)

An independent body assigned by a coalition of college leaders for a set period to make the process more fair and accurage.

If you are not a current legislator, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

Brian Moore (G)

Health Committee. Economic development committee. Labor Committee.

If you are a current legislator, what appealed to you about your current committees?

Brian Moore (G)

Not applicable.

Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

Brian Moore (G)

I already made reference to former Governor and U.S. Senator Terry Sanford of North Carolina. Plus, he was also the former president of Duke University and created vast and wonderful changes in the arts and education to a backward state.

Are you interested in running for a different political office (for example, the U.S. Congress or governor) in the future?

Brian Moore (G)

That will depend on if the people would ask me to run. The is the purist form of democracy.

Brian Moore (G)

No.

Should the legislature oversee or grant the use of emergency powers?

Brian Moore (G)

Ideally, the legislature should grant the use of emergency powers, but some time events dictate that immediate decisions have to be made. So it is important to allow the executive such individual powers. however, he should be held accountable for all of his/her actions.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

Brian Moore (G)

Yes. The state of Florida has a very conservative legislature, even to a fault. Even though I would prefer a guaranteed minimum income for all citizens, I realize it is not practical with this legislature. Therefore, I am willing to compromise in order to make Florida affordable again and to improve the protections for our heritage and our freedoms and rights.
