President John F. Kennedy was considering adding him to his presidential ticket for the 1964 elections, thereby replacing Lyndon B. Johnson as his VP.
However, Kennedy's assassination changed many peoples' lives.

Of great historical importance demonstrating impact of European powers on foreign lands, its indian populations and impact on South Americn land and environment. Plus, it showed the impact the Catholic Church had on foreign indian cultures, and how the Church was pressured by the governments of Portugal and Spain to give in to their monied interests and thirsts for power. The missionary priests stood up for the people at the expense of their lives, but they stood for principle and what was right. They pushed back on the establishment and forced them to change their ways.
The music and art were exquisite and enchanting. That movie said it all or me, and for what I think we should stand for.

Plus, we should implement more controlled growth so as to protect the environment and natural resources like our lakes, rivers, springs and coastal oceans.
The role of citizens in the decision-making process also needs to increase in all areas.
Furthermore, we need to make the election process solely public, under the entire auspices of the state government, and remove the role that big corporate and special interest money plays. Public campaigns will enable an equal amount of monies to qualified candidates, public debates, a shorter campaign period, open voting, etc. We also need an independent body to redistrict the districts every ten years.
