Florida state board of trustees
State Board of Trustees members are appointed in the state of Florida according to the state's constitution.
Appointment
Each constituent university will be governed by thirteen members that are confirmed by the Senate and serve staggered terms of five years. Each Board of Trustees consists of six citizen members appointed by the governor and five citizen members appointed by the Board of Governors.[1]
Government responsibilities
The Board of Governors establishes the powers and duties of the Boards of Trustees. The chair of the faculty senate, or the equivalent, and the president of the student body of the university are also members of the board of trustees. Each local constituent university is administered by a Board of Trustees. Each Board of Trustees has authority for policies related to students, enrollment of students, student records, student activities, financial assistance, and other student services.[1] Through voting and hearings, the Board of Trustees ensures that credits, university regulation, student affairs, university finances, university operation, administration accountability and university property run according to law and the Board of Governors.[2]
Position overview
A local Board of Trustees governs its university as the Board of Governors outlines as related to the organization and operation of the universities, finance, accountability, and property.[2]
