  • As long as Washington D.C. residents do not have the same representation as residents of the 50 states, they should be exempt from personal federal income tax.
  • If Washington D.C. residents are forced to pay a federal income tax despite lacking equal representation in congress, such taxes raised should be given to the D.C. Treasury, not the United States Treasury.
  • As a non-voting congressperson, the only duty of the District of Columbia Non-Voting Delegate should be to fight for equitable treatment of D.C. voters, or their exemption from personal federal income taxation.
Ford Fischer is running a single issue candidacy.

As long as Washington D.C. residents do not have the same representation as residents of the 50 states, they should be exempt from personal federal income tax.

If Washington D.C. residents are forced to pay a federal income tax despite lacking equal representation in congress, such taxes raised should be given to the D.C. Treasury, not the United States Treasury.

As a non-voting congressperson, the only duty of the District of Columbia Non-Voting Delegate should be to fight for equitable treatment of D.C. voters, or their exemption from personal federal income taxation.
The District of Columbia Non-Voting Delegate is unable to participate as any other congressperson would in voting on bills. Therefore, the Delegate's duties should be entirely limited to the advocacy of equality for their constituents. This means either full congressional representation, or the abolition of personal federal income tax for D.C. residents.

The delegate should do everything in their power to fight for those goals, including pushing legislation and amendments to achieve it. Because they cannot offer a vote on bills, it is my opinion that the delegate should not attempt to advocate on other matters.
