Former Governor Lingle files for U.S. Senate

HONOLULU, Hawaii Former Governor of Hawaii Linda Lingle officially filed as a candidate for Hawaii's open seat in the U.S. Senate last week. The seat will be open since Senator Daniel Akaka has chosen not to run for re-election.[1]
Lingle will compete against Businessman and US Senate Candidate '10/'06 Eddie Pirkowski and attorney John Carroll in the August 11 Republican primary.[1]
U.S. Representative Mazie Hirono and former representative Ed Case are seeking the nomination on the Democratic ticket.[1]
