Recall reports

Elections to recall President Keeney Escalanti, Vice President Virgil Smith, Council Member Loraine White, and Council Member Jordan Joaquin from their positions on the Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Tribe Council occurred in January 2018. Tribal member Sally DeCorse started the recall, claiming that she had been unconstitutionally passed over when Smith was appointed vice president in 2017. The results of the recalls were thrown out because less than a majority of registered voters voted.[1]

The Fort Yuma Quechan Reservation is in Arizona, California, and Baja California, Mexico.[2]

Recall vote

A special recall election was on January 17, 2018. The results were thrown out because a majority of registered voters did not participate. Two-hundred and sixty-six people voted. Results are shown below, although they were voided.[1]
