Four down, thirty-four judicial confirmations to go
December 17, 2010
Washington, D.C.: The United States Senate has confirmed four judicial nominees to office:
- James Bredar to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland
- Catherine Eagles to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina
- John A. Gibney to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia
- Kimberly Mueller to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California
Of all the federal district court nominees, these four had waited the longest to be confirmed since the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved their appointments. Thirty-four judicial nominations are still pending before the Senate. White House spokesman Josh Earnest stated, "We’re pleased that these four nominees have been confirmed, but urge the Senate to take action on the 34 nominees who remain on the calendar – particularly the 19 who would fill judicial emergencies."[1]
