Franca is The People's Advocate for All Citizens of Greensboro! She is proud to call Greensboro home and is committed to serving, protecting and improving our communities as an At-Large representative, putting our beloved city first because our children deserve better. She is running for Greensboro City Council because I believe that every resident deserves to be treated fairly and with respect. She will fight for working-class families by removing barriers so we are more inclusive as a city and will support initiatives investing in job training opportunities & resources that will help our most marginalized communities. She has accumulated a wide range of experiences that has enabled her to learn how city governance works. She is equipped with the morals, knowledge, and skills necessary to represent diverse groups of people, and I know how to advocate for those who are unable to advocate for themselves. Franca is also running because key members of the community came together and asked her to represent them on Greensboro’s political arena. In addition, she is running because she has a vested interest to do so because she herself is impacted and has children whose future depends on the decisions made by our elected officials.
  • I have always been a woman who fights for those who are considered marginalized. It is through this service, that I have been compelled to be a voice for all people. I believe in being present to listen. And once we have listened, it is our responsibility to represent the interests, of the people who have conveyed their grievances to us.
  • I am hardworking, a team player and also one to remain focused and to stay positive, finding ways out through difficult situations.
  • If… and WHEN I win this election, we will be making history in Greensboro. I will be the first person from Greensboro’s international community to be elected on Greensboro’s City Council!
My 4 platform areas are based on having listened to our residents who consistently list them as their biggest concerns:

• Economic opportunity – so that we have an equitable chance of making a decent living and access to better quality of life, for all residents of Greensboro.
• Housing security – something that has become even more urgent as we’ve entered the cold winter months. And… finally,
• Justice and public safety – because we all deserve to be protected and served. I am here to build bridges, not targets!

• Education Equity – because knowledge is truly the road to freedom.
The City Council is the legislative body of our Greensboro City government. It includes the Mayor along with Eight (8) Council Representatives. The Council works closely with the City Manager who is the Chief Executive Officer of the City and is responsible for the execution of policies and for the management of City departments and services.

I remember that fateful day on 9/11 when the planes crashed into the World Trade Center. I was 18-years-old then, few days shy of being 19. I will never forget that day and will continue to honor and remember all those who lost their lives on 9/11.
"A Change Is Gonna Come" By Sam Cooke
The Mayor and three (3) Council members are elected to serve as At-Large representatives, while the remaining five (5) Council members are elected to serve only the districts they are elected to represent.
I believe its important for elected officials to be Solution driven - finding ways through our City's many problems, especially those that are Gregorian and systematic in nature. The people are tired of endless talks and no action.
