Francie Riedmann Weis is a judge for District 3 of the Nebraska Court of Appeals. She assumed office on August 23, 2012. Her current term ends on January 4, 2029.
Weis ran for re-election for the District 3 judge of the Nebraska Court of Appeals. She won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.
Governor Dave Heineman (R) appointed Riedmann Weis to the Nebraska Court of Appeals on July 17, 2012.[1][2]
Weis was appointed chief judge of the Nebraska Court of Appeals effective September 12, 2024, to succeed Michael Pirtle.[3]
Education
Weis earned her B.S. from Kearney State College in 1985 and her paralegal certificate from the Denver Paralegal Institute in 1986. Riedmann received her J.D. from Creighton University Law School, graduating summa cum laude in 1993.[1]
Career
Weis was a law clerk, paralegal, and then associate with the law firm Gross & Welch between 1986 and 1996. From 1996 to 1999, she was an associate with the law firm Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin. In 1999, Weis returned to Gross & Welch as a shareholder and director. She remained with the firm until her appointment to the Nebraska Court of Appeals in July 2012.[4]
