Francis J. Connolly is a judge for District 19 of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. He assumed office on January 1, 2008. His current term ends on January 2, 2029.
Connolly ran for re-election for the District 19 judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Connolly was appointed to this position by Republican Governor Tim Pawlenty on Oct. 4, 2007, and took office on Jan. 1, 2008.[1]
Education
Judge Connolly received his B.A. from Columbia University in 1980, his M.S.F.S. from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1984, and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law School in 1984.[1]
Career
Judge Connolly began his legal career in 1984 as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice Honors Program. He joined the law firm Popham, Haik, Schnobrich & Kaufman in 1986. He moved to the firm Dorsey & Whitney the following year, where he worked until 1992. He then worked for the firm Rossini, Nelson & Rossini for two years and became an associate general counsel for Kraus-Anderson Realty Co. in 1994. He was appointed to the Fourth Judicial District on November 9, 1998. He held this position until his appointment to the court of appeals in 2007. By this time, he had served in the Criminal, Civil, and Juvenile sections of the Fourth District.[1]
