Two seats on the Francis Howell School District Board of Education were up for general election on April 7, 2015.

Incumbent Eric Seider ran for re-election against challengers Sandra Ferguson, Kimberlyann Granger, Mike Hoehn and Chad Lange for the two at-large seats.[1][2] Board member Marty Hodits did not file for re-election. Granger, Hoehn and Lange ran unsuccessfully for board seats in 2014. Ferguson and Lange defeated the other three candidates to win the election.

Francis Howell School District is located in east-central Missouri in St. Charles County. The county seat is St. Charles. This county is home to 373,495 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[3] In the 2011-2012 school year, Francis Howell School District was the fourth-largest school district in Missouri and served 19,626 students.[4]

Demographics

St. Charles County outperformed the rest of Missouri in terms of higher education achievement in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 35.1 percent of county residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree, compared to 26.2 percent for Missouri as a whole. Voter and candidate information

The Francis Howell Board of Education consists of seven members elected at-large to three-year terms. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on April 7, 2015. Two seats were up for election in 2015.[2]

School board candidates had to file with their county elections department during the candidate filing period, which began on December 16, 2014, and ended on January 20, 2015. Endorsements

Incumbent Eric Seider and challenger Chad Lange received endorsements from the local affiliate of the Missouri National Education Association and the Tri-County Labor Club of the AFL-CIO COPE.[7][8] Seider also received endorsements from the Carpenters District Council of St. Louis and Vicinity and St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano.[9]

Sandra Ferguson and Mike Hoehn received endorsements from the St. Charles County Republican Central Committee.[10]
