Francis Joseph Mathew is a district court judge in the First Judicial District of New Mexico.[1] He was appointed on January 11, 2013, by Governor Susana Martinez to replace Barbara J. Vigil, who was elected to the New Mexico Supreme Court in 2012.[2][3] He was elected to a full term on the court in 2014, which will expire on December 31, 2020.[4][4]

Primary: He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 3, 2014.
General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [4][5] 

Education

Mathew received both his undergraduate degree and J.D. from the University of Notre Dame.[2]

Career

At the time Mathew was appointed to the bench he was in private practice at his own firm, Mathew Law Firm, which he established in 2004. Before this, he worked at the firm Jones, Snead, Wertheim & Wentworth.[2]
