Campaign themes

2007

Bricker provided the following statement for the 2007 Benton County voters' pamphlet:

In the 13 years I have been on the school board, I have come to realize that there are four primary functions for a school board member:
  • Creating and overseeing the administrative, financial and educational policies of the school district.
  • Listening to and representing students, parents, and members of the community; helping them to work within the system, and to make changes if changes are needed.
  • Helping develop and maintain a school system that is responsive to the needs of students and their parents.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the collaborative relationship the district has with both the teachers and the other district employees.

Over the 18 years that I have been involved with the Albany schools, both as a parent of three students and a school board member, I have developed both the knowledge and experience to perform these functions. I am prepared to continue to serve the community as a school board director for the next four years.[3]
