An effort to recall Mayor Frank Jackson in Cleveland, Ohio, from his position was launched in May 2015.[1] The recall did not go to a vote because supporters failed to turn in enough signatures to move the recall forward.[2]
Recall supporters
Jackson was targeted for recall over a "failure to responsibly discharge the duties of his office, his willful neglect to enforce the law and/or perform the official duties imposed on him by law and his nonfeasance in office."[1]

Supporters needed to turn in 12,000 signatures by June 19, 2015, to move the recall forward.[1] They handed in 13,500 signatures on June 20, 2015.[3] On June 24, 2015, election officials rejected more than 98 percent of the signatures, certifying only 260. Petitioners had until July 14, 2015, to collect the remaining valid signatures.[4]
