Frank Coffin
Frank Morey Coffin (1919-2009) was a federal judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit. He joined the court in 1965 after an appointment from Lyndon Johnson. At the time of appointment, he was the U.S. representative to development assistance committee for the OECD. He assumed senior status in 1989 and passed away at the age of 90 after serving more than 40 years on the federal bench.[1][2] Coffin passed away on December 7, 2009.

Judicial nominations and appointments
First Circuit
Coffin was nominated to the First Circuit by President Lyndon Johnson on September 15, 1965, to a seat vacated by John Patrick Hartigan; he was confirmed by the Senate on October 1, 1965, and received commission the next day. He served as chief judge from 1972-1983. He assumed senior status on February 1, 1989 and continued serving in that status until his death in 2009. He was succeeded to his position by Conrad Cyr.[1]
