Frank S. Szymanski was a judge of the Wayne County Probate Court in Michigan. He left office on January 1, 2025.

Szymanski ran for re-election for judge of the Wayne County Probate Court in Michigan. He won in the general election on November 6, 2018.

Biography

Szymanski received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1974 and his J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law in 1980. Before receiving his law degree, Szymanski was a history and social studies high school teacher. Once he earned his J.D., he went into the private practice of law. He was an attorney for twenty-six years before joining the court.[1]

Judges of the Michigan Probate Courts are each elected to six-year terms.[2] The elections for this court are nonpartisan contested elections. To serve on this court, a judge must be a qualified elector of the district, licensed to practice law in the state, under the age of 70, and have five years of experience practicing law.

Szymanski was nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party convention to run for the Michigan Supreme Court against incumbent Justice David Viviano.[3] The election was on November 8, 2016.

Family

Szymanski is the son of the late Judge Frank Szymanski and the brother of David Szymanski, both whom served on the Wayne County Probate Court.[6]
