Elections for the Michigan State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election took place on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. David Knezek defeated five other candidates in the Democratic primary. Jennifer Rynicki was unopposed in the Republican primary. Knezek defeated Rynicki in the general election. Incumbent Tupac Hunter (D) did not seek re-election due to term limits.[2][3][4][5]

Tomcsik was a Democratic candidate for District 17 in the Michigan House of Representatives in the November 2, 2010, state legislative elections. Tomcsik was defeated in the August 3, 2010, primary by Phil Cavanagh.[6]
