My greatest asset is my ability to build bridges between groups with diverse interests. I have worked with for-profit corporations, family farmers/ranchers and conservation groups, as well as tribal, state, and federal lawmakers, to solve some of the most complex challenges in Northern California. I led the successful effort to remove four fish-killing dams on the Klamath River. The Klamath dams will be dismantled before the end of 2024, as part of the largest salmon habitat restoration project in world history.
I oversee three construction and environmental restoration businesses that employ hundreds of individuals. As the Tribe’s Vice Chairman, I developed many of the Tribe’s high-profile initiatives. Together, these projects brought a half billion dollars to the region. I am concerned about the rising cost of living and healthcare in the district. As your district representative, I will fight as hard as possible to fix these issues. As a Native person, I am deeply invested in the future of District 2.- We need representation that is rooted in restoration of our land, our people and our economy. I understand the profound connection between environmental health and the well-being of our communities. Our lands hold sacred significance, and the preservation of our environment is not just a policy matter but a cultural imperative. A core belief of the Yurok People is that we are connected to the land around us and if we truly want to build a healthy vibrant community then we must also build a healthy ecosystem.
- Health is an unequivocal human right, fundamental to the dignity and well-being of every individual regardless of background, socioeconomic status, or geographic location, every person deserves access to quality healthcare, preventive measures, and essential medical services. Recognizing health as a human right is not only a moral imperative but also a cornerstone for building equitable societies. As we strive for progress, let us champion policies and initiatives that ensure universal access to healthcare, affirming the principle that good health is an essential foundation for a life of opportunity and fulfillment.
- My mission as your representative will be to provide affordable, safe and decent housing to community members to better enable their individual and group ventures toward self-sufficiency, health, stability and improved lifestyles. Representation matters and ensuring that every part of our community is represented should be the goal of every candidate. For far too long Native American people have gone missing in our district with little to no attention being brought to the issue.
