Franklin Foil (Republican Party) is a member of the Louisiana State Senate, representing District 16. He assumed office on January 13, 2020. His current term ends on January 10, 2028.
Foil (Republican Party) won re-election to the Louisiana State Senate to represent District 16 outright in the primary on October 14, 2023, after the primary and general election were canceled.
Foil is a former Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, representing District 70 from 2008 to 2020.
Biography
Foil earned his B.A. in political science from Louisiana State University and his J.D. from the Loyola School of Law. His professional experience includes working as an attorney.

Elections for the Louisiana House of Representatives took place in 2015. A primary election was held on October 24, 2015, with a general election held in districts where necessary on November 21, 2015. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was September 10, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. CDT.[2]
Louisiana elections use the Louisiana majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary, and a candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50% of the vote. If no candidate does, the top two vote recipients from the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation.

2011
On October 22, 2011, Foil won re-election to District 70 of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He defeated Greg Baldwin (I) in the October 22 primary. Because Louisiana uses a blanket primary system, a candidate can be declared the overall winner of the seat by garnering 50 percent +1 of the vote in the primary.
2007
In 2007, Foil was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives. He defeated Pat Culbertson.[5]
