Biography

Fred Hoover lives in Annapolis, Maryland. Hoover earned a bachelor's degree from Mount Saint Mary's College and a law degree from the University of Baltimore. His career experience includes working as an assistant people's counsel with the Maryland Office of People’s Counsel, the director of the Maryland Energy Administration, and the senior director of the National Association of State Energy Officials. Hoover co-founded and served on the board of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters.[1]

Gov. Wes Moore (D) appointed Hoover as chair of the Maryland Public Service Commission beginning on July 1, 2023. Stanek succeeded Jason Stanek as chair. [1]
