Patton's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[8]
- Pro Business
- Excerpt: "As a small business owner, I understand that a strong economy requires fiscal responsibility and local control without needless government regulation. My business experience, combined with my education in finance and law, gives me the background to fight for local business and our local economy."
- Pro Family
- Excerpt: "As a fourth-generation resident of the district, I value the foundation of family, friends and faith that comes with being part of a close-knit community. As a homeowner, I appreciate the benefits and sacrifices of property ownership, and my family and neighbors feel the impact of ever-increasing property taxes."
- Pro Schools
- Excerpt: "As the father of three young kids, I am a strong advocate for our local schools. With 11 years of service on the Seaman USD 345 Board of Education, I know firsthand that our future depends on providing our children and grandchildren with a strong foundation."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
