Fred S. Hecker is a judge on the Fifth Circuit Court for Carroll County in Maryland. He was appointed to the court by Governor Martin O'Malley on November 25, 2013.[1] Hecker was re-elected to the Fifth Circuit Court in 2014, winning a new term that expires on December 31, 2029.[2][3]

On February 1, 2019, Hecker succeeded Judge J. Barry Hughes as administrative judge of the court.[4]

Hecker ran for re-election to the Fifth Circuit Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 69.8 percent of the vote. He competed against Steven Tiedemann. Hecker cross-filed as a Democrat and won that primary as well, receiving 63.9 percent of the vote. 
General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [3][5][6] 

Education

Hecker received his undergraduate degree from Gettysburg College and his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1987.[1][7]

Career

Before his appointment to the court, Hecker practiced law with his firm of Miller & Hecker in Westminster, Maryland. He has also previously served as a settlement officer for the Circuit Court for Carroll County.[1][7]
