Fred Woods
Fred Woods is a former justice on the Second District of the California Courts of Appeal. He was apppointed by former Governor Deukmejian. He took the oath of office on August 19, 1988. He was retained by voters in the November 7, 2006 and January 8, 2007 elections. His term was to expire on January 7, 2019, but he retired on March 31, 2015.[1]
Education
Fred Woods graduated from Rice University in 1958 with a psychology degree. In 1963, he graduated from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. In 1967, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Naval Reserve. [2]
Career
Fred Woods practiced private law for 20 years in Long Beach, California (1964 to 1984). He was appointed by Governor Deukmejian to the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 1984. He served in the criminal trials, civil trials, law and motion, and appellate departments and was a member of the Court Executive Committee.[2][3]
