Frederic W. Fleishauer was a judge for the Portage County Circuit Court, Branch 1, Wisconsin.[1] He was first elected to the court in 1980 and was unopposed each time he was re-elected.[2] He retired in November 2011.[3]

Education

Fleishauer earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1973.[2]

Career

Fleishauer was assistant district attorney for about three years before becoming the Portage County District Attorney in 1977. He served in that position until being elected to the Portage County Circuit Court in 1980.[2]

Stories from the bench

After sentencing a woman to jail, she reached inside her orange jail-issued jumpsuit and pulled out a Monopoly game "Get Out of Jail Free Card," and asked Fleishauer if he would accept it.[4]
