Biography

Education

Wallis received his B.A. in political science from Furman University in 1989 and his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in 1992.[1][2]

Career

Wallis began his legal career in 1993 as an assistant state attorney for the 18th Judicial Circuit. In 1995, he joined the law firm of Cameron, Marriott, Walsh, Hodges & D'Assaro, PA as an associate. He joined Cabaniss, Smith, Toole and Wiggins, PL in 1996 and later became a partner. Governor Charlie Crist appointed Wallis to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court bench in January 2008. He served as a circuit court judge until his elevation to the Fifth District Court of Appeal in 2013.[1][3]

Bar evaluation

The Florida Bar conducted a poll of its members regarding the appellate judges up for retention in 2014. 86% of respondents recommended Wallis for retention.[5]

Wallis won the primary election for judge of the Ninth Circuit Court, receiving 82.6 percent of the vote. He ran unopposed and was elected in the general election on November 2nd.[6]
