Frederick Heebe was an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. He joined the court in 1966 after being nominated by President Lyndon Johnson. Heebee passed away on August 10, 2014, at the age of 91.[1][2]

Early life and education

A Louisana native, Heebe graduated from Tulane University with his bachelor's degree in 1943 and with his law degree in 1949.[2]

Military career

Heebe served one year in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946 as a Active Duty Lieutenant.[2]

Professional career

After law school, Heebe was a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Louisiana from 1949 to 1958. In addition to private practice work, Heebe was a parish councilman and vice chairman for Jefferson Parish from 1958 to 1960, before becoming a district court judge in the 24th Judicial District Court of Louisiana, serving Jefferson Parish from 1961 to 1966.[2]

Judicial nominations and appointments

Eastern District of Louisiana

Heebe was nominated by President Lyndon Johnson on February 16, 1966, to a seat vacated by Frank Ellis, as Ellis assumed senior status. Heebe was Confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 25, 1966, and received commission on March 26, 1966. From 1972 to 1992, Heebe served for twenty years as the chief judge of the court. He assumed senior status on August 26, 1992, and passed away on August 10, 2014.[1][2] Heebe was succeeded in this position by Okla Jones.
