Frederick J. Lauten was a judge on the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida from 1999 to 2019. Governor Jeb Bush (R) appointed Lauten in November of 1999.[1] Lauten retired on June 20, 2019.

Lauten served as an administrative judge from 2008 to 2019.[2][3]

Lauten became the chief judge of the court when Belvin Perry retired on August 31, 2014. He served in this capacity until his retirement on June 20, 2019.[4]

Lauten ran for re-election to the Ninth Circuit Court.
As an unopposed candidate, he was automatically re-elected without appearing on the ballot.[3] 

Education

Lauten received his B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from Rollins College, in 1975 and 1976, respectively. He earned his J.D. from Villanova University in 1979.[1][2][5]

Career

Lauten began his career in 1979 as an associate of the Law Office of Bryan C. Hugo in Longwood, Florida. In 1981, he moved to Washington, D.C. to work as an associate of Tierney & Swift, P.A. The following year, he was back in Florida, working out of Orlando as an assistant state attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit. He held that position until 1993, when he became judge of the Orange County Court. He joined the circuit court in 1999 and retired in 2019.[5]

Lauten served in the following divisions: Orange County Criminal (1999-2004, 2006), Osceola County Criminal (2005), Orange County Civil (Business Court, 2007-2011).[2]
