Fruita Medical Marijuana Tax (April 2010)
A Fruita Medical Marijuana Tax measure was on the April 6, 2010 ballot in the city of Fruita, which is in Mesa County.

Even though this measure was approved, pot is not legal to possess except with medical purposes and there is no dispensary in the city.[1] The tax though is expected to generate $100,000 in the first year.[2] The money generated from the tax will be used to help pay for regulating in dispensaries that may be approved and enforcing laws.[3]
This measure sought to impose a 5 percent tax on marijuana which is used for medicinal purposes by patients. This is the first measure to try to tax the use of legal marijuana.[4]
