G. Thomas Cooper, Jr.
G. Thomas Cooper, Jr. is an active/retired circuit court judge for the Fifth Judicial Circuit in South Carolina.[1] He was elected to the court by the South Carolina General Assembly on May 24, 2000.[2] He retired from the bench in 2012 and has been serving as an active/retired judge since then.
Education
Cooper received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University in 1963 and his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School in 1966.[2]
Career
Before he became a judge, Cooper spent most of his career as an attorney in private practice. He has also served as an assistant solicitor for the 5th Judicial Circuit from 1970 to 1974 and was a member of the Kershaw County Council from 1990 to 2000.[2]
