Gale D. Candaras is a former Democratic member of the Massachusetts State Senate, representing the First Hampden and Hampshire district from 2006 to 2015.

Candaras served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1997 to 2006. She served on the Wilbraham Planning Board, the Wilbraham Finance Committee and the Wilbraham Board of Selectmen.

On January 21, 2014, Candaras announced that she would not run for re-election, instead opting to run for probate court register in Hampden County.[1] Candaras was defeated by independent Suzanne Seguin in the general election.[2]

Biography

Candaras earned her bachelor's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and J.D. from the Western New England College School of Law. Her professional experience includes working as an attorney and for Goldman Sachs, Institutional Investor Magazine, and Neuberger and Berger.[3]

Candaras won re-election in the 2012 election for Massachusetts State Senate First Hampden and Hampshire District. Candaras was unopposed in the September 6 Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[4]

Candaras won re-election to the First Hampden and Hampshire District seat in 2010. She had no primary opposition. Thomas McCarthy ran for the seat on the Republican ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[5]

On November 4, 2008, Candaras was re-elected in the Senate election for the First Hampden and Hampshire district.[6] In this election she raised $154,015; of that total $141,101 (92.1%) was from in state contributions and $12,184 (7.9%) was from out-of-state contributions.[7]

Candaras was raised in Wilbraham, Massachusetts and is married to Arthur Wolf with one child. She has been involved with a number of organizations, including the Connecticut Bar Association, Hampden County Anti-Drug Coalition, Massachusetts Bar Association, Massachusetts Juvenile Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association, New York Bar Association and the Wilbraham Women's Club.[3]
