This measure sought to implement a transportation sales tax which would be set at a rate of .5 percent for a period of ten years in order to pay for street construction, repair and maintenance costs in the city.[2]

The question on the ballot:
Shall there be a city transportation sales tax of one-half of one percent in the City of Galena for a period of TEN YEARS, with funds from said tax to be EXCLUSIVELY for the financing of construction, maintenance and operation of city STREETS within the city limits of Galena, Missouri.[3] |
