A Galesburg City Fire Levy measure was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Kalamazoo County, which is in Michigan, where it was approved.
This measure authorized a 1 mill ($1.00 per $1000 of taxable valuation) for ten years to fund firefighting equipment. This would raise approximately $27,762.23 in 2012.[1]

Language on the ballot:
“ | Shall the Galesburg City Council be authorized to levy 1 mill above constitutional limitations ($1.00 for each $1,000 of taxable valuation) against all property (real and personal) in the City of Galesburg for the next 10 years (2012-2021) for the purpose of purchasing firefighting apparatus to be used by the Galesburg/Charleston Fire Board. It is estimated that 1 mill would equal approximately $27,762.23 in 2012.[1][2] | ” |
