For choice. For democracy. For tomorrow.

I’m Gareth Fenley, running for election to the Georgia State Senate. My vision is bigger than one seat. I’m campaigning to strengthen democracy.

No one can take for granted that our democracy will be here tomorrow. I’ve been involved in political campaigns and causes all my life, working to amplify the power of the vote. Now in this critical election year, I’ve stepped up to run as a candidate for the first time.

This isn’t about trying to make things like they were yesterday. I’m campaigning alongside my community, for a better future for all of us: For tomorrow.

As a professional social worker, entrepreneur, and community volunteer, I bring service, integrity, and courage to everything I do. In my vision of tomorrow, homes are safe and comfortable, schools prepare students to succeed, and jobs pay a living wage.

I’m running to make sure there’s a broad path to prosperity where everyone’s included, all throughout Georgia State Senate District 46 -- from Gwinnett County to Barrow, Walton, Oconee, and Athens-Clarke counties.

For tomorrow, elect Gareth Fenley in 2024.
Housing, education, voting, racial justice, shared prosperity, reproductive freedom, prevention of violence.
Integrity, courage, character, accountability, competence.
To participate in law-making that will protect and advance the public interest for people in Georgia, with particular attention to needs in State Senate District 46.
In 1972, when I was 11 years old, reporters began to unravel the Watergate scandal. This marked the beginning of my interest in politics. I was fascinated by the growing list of characters involved. Eventually this scandal got closer and closer to the White House, and I followed the news about it. I was at a Girl Scout camp on August 8, 1974, when another girl shouted to me that the president was resigning. We ran to a picnic table in a clearing there in the woods, where the adults had a battery powered radio playing the voice of President Nixon. After it was over, it took me a while to absorb the news. Watergate taught me that truth-telling can defeat corrupt power. Facts matter.
Georgia's greatest challenges in the next decade will involve historic shifts: embracing greater racial and ethnic diversity; guiding and adapting to revolutions in technology; facing the reality of climate change; and resolving crises of inequality in housing, education, health care, income, and wealth.
Relationships are essential to the process of legislation. Civility and courtesy should be the order of the day.
In my district on February 22, 2024, the appalling murder of Laken Riley, a young woman preparing for a career in nursing, devastated our community. Local and state law enforcement coordinated swiftly to arrest a suspect, a Venezuelan who had illegally entered the United States. The district attorney appointed a special prosecutor to ensure justice will be done. Among neighbors and even in nearby counties, all over District 46, intense emotions and reactions swept through. Fear and anger. Calls for vengeance. Appeals to compassion and invocations of faith. Some local citizens blasted fury at local politicians, and even rallied against each other. As I write this on March 9, our community is anguished and exhausted. We need to heal. Unfortunately, the national Republican Party seized upon this tragedy. They are exploiting Laken Riley's name to push their agenda on immigration policy. They dishonor her with their scapegoating and showboating.

Open government and public participation are essential.
