I'm a revolutionary, running for public office. I believe in fair elections. I don't accept any corporate donations. I'm not funded by the real estate industry, the pharmaceutical industry, any of the special interests groups that are hurting my community. We need to get money out of politics, because our political system is riddled with corruption.
  • I believe in fair elections, where people of any tax bracket can run.
  • The criminal justice system is a byproduct of white supremacy and we need to replace it with a system of justice.
  • Corporations and billionaires should not be able to buy influence with our candidates.
I care deeply about the status of our education system. Teachers are as valuable to society as doctors and need to be regarded as such.

Our labor system undervalues and underpays the workers.
We have deep income inequality and the state seems uninterested in making billionaires and large corporations pay their fair share of taxes.
We need to end the school to prison pipeline.

Law enforcement needs to be held accountable for abuses and wrongdoing.
Integrity is the most important characteristic for an elected official. An official needs to act on the best interest of the people, not their campaign donors.
I was 8 years old when planes struck the Twin Towers. I was in the 4th grade and attending a Catholic school in Westchester county, down the street from my mother's job. When the news broke, they evacuated us to the local high school because our school was next to the Kensico Dam and they were afraid that terrorists might hit the dam next.
Manchild in the Promised Land by Claude Brown is my favorite novel. It was a gift from my godfather. Claude Brown wrote about growing up as a black boy in New York City during the 1940s and 50s.
I lived through the Bloomberg era of NYC. As a black man, that's not easy.
Right now, the State Senate has been trying to rollback bail reform. The State Assembly, for the most part, opposes this. I don't believe in rolling back bail reform laws. Cash bail is terrible. My entire life, I was told that in America, you are innocent until proven guilty. That line is only true for the wealthy though. Cash bail lets people out of jail after an arrest, if they can afford to pay for it. If you cannot afford to pay bail, you are incarcerated before you go to trial. That's unjust.
New York is going to take years to recover from the effects of COVID-19. This wave of disease has taken lives from us. People will lose their homes. Some businesses will never reopen. People's careers were turned upside down.
I believe that it's beneficial to build relationships with other legislators, because you can't get anything passed on your own. That does not mean that you tone down your ideals to match your peers. You can either get your peers to see your viewpoint or work with others who do.
