Gary Anderson was the Massachusetts Commissioner of Insurance. Anderson assumed office in 2017. Anderson left office on May 1, 2024.

Anderson previously served as acting commissioner of insurance from January 2015 to April 2015.[1] [2]

Anderson served as first deputy commissioner under former Massachusetts Commissioner of Insurance Joseph Murphy. Anderson is also a former aide to former Massachusetts State Senate President Therese Murray and Sen. Anthony Petruccelli.[3]

Political career

Massachusetts Commissioner of Insurance (2015, 2017-2024)

Anderson previously served as acting Massachusetts Commissioner of Insurance from January 2015 to April 2015. He stepped into this position after former commissioner Joseph Murphy stepped down from his post to join the private sector.[1][2]

Anderson was appointed Massachusetts Commissioner of Insurance again on February 24, 2017, after the resignation of Daniel Judson.[5]

Anderson resigned as Massachusetts Commissioner of Insurance on May 1, 2024 to accept a position as chief executive officer of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. [6]
