I am married to Quintella Howard. We have three adult children Lee, Alexandra and Nathan and a great nephew reared in our home. I pastor my House of Faith. I earned my degrees from Wofford College, Converse University, and my doctorate from the University of South Carolina at Columbia. I have taught at urban, suburban, and rural schools. Schools and district that were majority- majority and majority-minority. Schools that had ninety-five percent of students on free or reduced lunch. I now sit on the Anderson County Board of Education as an elected official.

I am running as a father, as a person whose faith and life experiences has uniquely qualified him to be the next South Carolina Superintendent of Education. I am not running as a Black candidate, I am not running as male candidate, I am not running as a candidate from the upstate, I am running as a South Carolinian.

My experience as a product of South Carolina’s public education system- a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, superintendent of schools and as an elected board member has uniquely qualified me to be the next superintendent of education for the state of South Carolina.

  • All children are our children
  • The A.C.E. Platform- Academic Excellence, Community/Local Control of Schools, Educator/Teacher Pride
  • American Democracy is on the ballot
We should raise the begin teaching salary to 50,000.00 a year. Equally important is to create a safe and supportive teaching environment in the classroom. Teachers should the without fear of being fired or sued for doing their jobs- teachers are in fact in loco parentis. I envision implementing a framework that I call ACE- Academic Excellence, allowing teachers to do their jobs without fear; Community Local Control, allowing citizens through their local school boards to set policy to operate schools efficiently and effectively with the maximize impact to benefit teaching and learning, keeping the heavy hand of the South Carolina Department of Education from interfering, but to act as a resource for local school districts; Educator Teacher P.R.I.D.E.-

• Pay teachers as the guardians of civilization and society
• Retain teachers in the profession by creating professional teaching environments
• Innovation must be expected of teachers, and environments created for teachers to be innovative
• Developing, advancing teachers in the profession

• Enterprising among teachers must be encouraged as to create better methods and practices to engage students- ACE=Academic Excellence, Community Control, Educator/Teacher Pride

Sending our children, our presents, into the world as adults who can successfully navigate this world.
