Gary Dahl was a Republican member of the Illinois State Senate. Dahl has served in the Illinois Senate since 2005. Dahl was re-elected in November of 2008. However, he resigned his seat on December 2, 2010, leaving a two-year unexpired term.[1] Dahl is a trucking firm owner.

On November 4, 2008, Republican Gary Dahl won re-election to the Illinois State Senate District 38 receiving 62,790 votes, ahead of Democrat Steve Stout who received 38,687 votes.[3]
