General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 44.8 percent of the vote. He competed against Joyce V. Kimbler.

Werner received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1991 and his J.D. degree from the Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1994.[3]
