Gary C. Giguere, Jr. is a judge for the 9th Circuit Court (Trial Division) in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. He was appointed to the court by former Governor Jennifer Granholm on February 21, 2007.[1] In November 2008, Giguere was elected to a full six-year term ending on January 1, 2015. He became the presiding judge of the trial division in 2010. In 2020, he became Chief Circuit/Probate Judge Pro Tempore.[2][3] On November 4, 2014, Giguere was re-elected unopposed for another six-year term commencing on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[4]

Education

Giguere received his B.A. from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1988 and his J.D. degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1992.[2]

Career

Giguere began his career in 1992 as a law clerk to Judge Harry Beach of the 48th Circuit Court. The following year, he became an assistant prosecuting attorney in Kalamazoo County. Giguere then spent ten years in private practice, from 1997 to 2007, before joining the 9th Circuit Court. In 1993, he also served as a pre-hearing attorney for the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Giguere has also taught as an adjunct professor at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School (1995-1996) and Davenport University (1998-1999).[5]
