Gary Leonard was a 2011 Republican candidate for District 11 of the Louisiana State Senate.

Leonard is a resident of Mandeville. He is a reserve police officer and pharmaceutical sales executive.

If he wins election, Leonard said he will donate his entire legislative salary in $1,000 increments to charities in St. Tammany and Tangipahoa.[1]

Leonard ran in the 2011 election for Louisiana Senate District 11. He was defeated by incumbent Jack Donahue (R) in the primary election on October 22, 2011. Because Louisiana uses a blanket primary system, a candidate can be declared the overall winner of the seat by garnering 50 percent +1 of the vote in the primary.[2]
