Gary Potters is a judge of the New Jersey Vicinage 6 Superior Court. He assumed office in 2022. His current term ends in 2029.

He was nominated to the court on February 28, 2022 by Governor Phil Murphy and was confirmed by the Senate on May 26, 2022.[1][2]

Biography

Potters served as a trustee with the New Jersey State Bar Association from 2009 to 2015. He also served on various committees within the New Jersey State Bar Association and was a Grader for the New Jersey Bar Examination for six years. Additionally, he was a trustee of the Essex County Bar Association from 2007 to 2009. He was the President of Maplewood Country Club for two years and served as legal counsel for Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel from 2005 to 2011. Potters also directed the Historical Society of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.[3]

Education

Potters earned his bachelor's degree in political science at George Washington University and his law degree at University of Bridgeport School of Law.[3]

Career

Prior to serving as a judge, Potters was a Partner with Potters & Della Pietra LLP. He also has served as National Coordinating Counsel for various entities confronting asbestos exposure in lawsuits. Potters is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association as well as the Essex and Hudson County Bar Associations.[3]
