Simmons (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Maryland House of Delegates to represent District 12B. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Biography
Gary Simmons was born in Savannah, Georgia, and lives in Maryland. Simmons earned a B.S. in political science and criminal justice from Tuskegee University in 1990. His career experience includes working for the board of elections in Suffolk County, New York, the Suffolk County Probation Office, and the United States Attorney’s Office (New York Eastern District). After moving to Maryland in 2006, Simmons worked as a special police officer with the U.S. Department of Defense. He was also a captain at the U.S. Publishing Office in Washington, D.C. Simmons retired in 2017.[1][2]
